On Nov. 17, Councilman Price had the great pleasure of joining the Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD) and LA Family Housing (LAFH) for a ribbon-cutting and unveiling ceremony in honor of two new murals at Residences on Main, which provides 49 permanent homes for families and Transition Age Youth experiencing homelessness.

“In Council District 9, we are rewriting our own version of what affordable and permanent supportive housing looks like by bringing quality projects that keep the community in mind. Ones that are built on giving our neighbors a dignified place to live, one where they feel safe, supported and at home,” added Councilman Price. “The spaces at Residence on Main give our neighbors a sense of pride in knowing that they are valued and are deserving of every bit of beauty that they are surrounded by.”

The day’s festivities also featured Fabian Debora, Executive Director of the Homeboy Art Academy at Homeboy Industries, who was inspired to create the artwork in support of Latinx, Chicano, and Indigenous communities in South LA.

The new artwork serves to further beautify a blighted corner in the community that had been condemned as a nuisance by the City of Los Angeles in 2010 and today provides critically-needed housing designed to stabilize and integrate families and youth into the surrounding community.
