On Tuesday, the Los Angeles City Council unanimously confirmed Kristin Crowley as the permanent Fire Chief of the LAFD. With her confirmation, Crowley becomes the first woman to lead the department as well as the department’s first LGBTQ leader. Crowley has been with LAFD for over 20 years and will take over as the Chief in late March when the current chief, Ralph Terrazas, retires. Crowley will be tasked with making the department more equitable as there have been complaints from many firefighters that they have faced discrimination due to their backgrounds. Councilman Price was happy to support her confirmation and looks forward to working with her in the future. Click here for more.
