The City Council approved the Los Angeles Justice Fund–a City, County and philanthropic initiative created to provide free legal services to undocumented Angelenos since 2017.

During the meeting, Councilmembers adopted a new framework for the program that will provide free legal services to immigrants, prioritizing representation to unaccompanied children, immigrants experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, Temporary Protected Status applicants, asylum seekers, human trafficking and violent crime victims, fraud victims, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients and individuals eligible for new immigration relief opportunities.

During the 2021-22 Fiscal Year budget, Councilmember Price secured $2 million for the program, which the City Council allocated this week. The City will also seek additional funding for the program through the federal and state governments to continue the program's goals in the coming years. To learn more about the program, click here.
