Dr. Theresa Price, renowned advocate for education equity, was honored by the City Council on April 30, for her transformative contributions. In response to California’s Proposition 209, which banned affirmative action programs in state colleges, Dr. Price founded the National College Resources Foundation 25 years ago.

Her pioneering efforts include spearheading the Black College Expo, a nationwide educational convention spanning 14 cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, and New York. Recognizing the need for broader outreach, Dr. Price also initiated the Latino College Expo and the Students Think S.T.E.A.M. Expo.

Through her organization’s efforts to support at-risk, low-resource, unhoused, and foster students, Dr. Price has facilitated college admissions for over 600,000 students, securing an impressive $3 billion in scholarships and grants.
